What is EvaDAT?
The evaluation example database EvaDAT is based on the guideline VDI 6201 and is a free platform for quality assurance of software-based structural analysis. Here, users and producers of software can call up standardized, qualified and neutral evaluation examples for their own testing purposes and contribute to the uploading of further examples.

How is an example structured?
The structure is divided into the following sections in accordance with VDI 6201: - Classification - Problem description - Reference solution - Results - Evaluation - References The longer sections of content are edited in the editor. There, in addition to formatted text, you can insert tables, formulae, graphics, bibliographical references, list references and parameter groups, amongst other things.
How can I upload an example?
After signing in, select “Add example” in the example database. First enter the basic information and classification, then edit the content sections in the editor. Supported sections are saved automatically; the example is only published when you use the “Publish” action after the required information is complete.
Can I just upload a problem description or do I also have to provide a result?
An important entry is missing from the classification. What should I do?
Either a field has already been set up where you can add entries – as is the case with standards, for example – or, if not, please get in touch with us and send us your suggestion.
Can I save my input as a draft first?
Yes. A newly created example starts as a draft. You can add information and content sections step by step and continue editing later. The editor automatically saves supported sections and displays the save status. The example only becomes publicly visible when you explicitly select “Publish”.
How can I recognize that my input has not yet been published?

In which language can I write my post?
You can maintain content in all languages authorised for EvaDAT. To do this, select the source language for each section in the editor. The language may vary from section to section; this is independent of the interface language of your user account. As soon as the example is approved, we automatically generate a machine translation of all sections, which can then be confirmed by users.
How can I become an editor of an example that has already been uploaded?
How can I add results to the example?
As a registered editor, open your assigned result section in edit mode. Enter the content in the editor. You can insert formatted text, tables, formulas, graphics, literature references and parameter groups. Supported changes are saved automatically.
How can I insert graphics?
Click on ‘Image’ in the Insert bar of the editor. This will open the media library. There, you can select an existing image or upload a new file. You will find a detailed description in the relevant help text.
How can I add references?
In the insert row of the editor, click “Literature reference”. In the literature library, you can select an existing source or create a new literature entry. When inserted, the editor creates a reference linked to that literature entry. Numbering is generated automatically from the sources actually used and does not need to be maintained manually.
What happens, if two users edit the example at the same time?
How does the communication within the editing group of an example take place?
How can I post further information?
You can insert further images and documents in the relevant results section via ‘Graphics’ or ‘Attachments’ in the editor. In the relevant library, you can upload files or reuse existing ones. Images can be inserted into the content as image nodes, whilst other files can be inserted as linked file elements.
Can I make visible a result of an example that is still being edited? And if so, how?
We’d like to carry out a change of assignee for a sample case within our company. Is that possible?
Of course. Please get in touch with us and let us know which example you would like us to make the change to.
