E1Problem description
This section was machine-translated by DeepL.

The building slab shown in Fig. E1-1 is a typical reinforced concrete structural element designed to carry heavy loads within a building. The building slab has a thickness of t = 24 cm. It has two door openings, a small recess and three supports.

E1.1Static system and load

Fig. E1-1: Static system and load

The columns S1 and S2 are fully fixed at supports A and B. Support C is restrained in the x-direction and the z-direction.

The structural slab is subjected to a constant distributed load of p = 150 kN/m and three point loads P1 = 300 kN, P2 = 210 kN and P3 = 440 kN at its upper surface. Only one load case is considered. The dead weight of the structure is not taken into account due to its negligible contribution to the total load.

E1.2System properties

The properties of the structural and design models are given in Tab. E1-1.

E1.3Aspects of modelling

The wall slab is modelled using slab elements with a thickness of t = 24 cm, and the columns are modelled using beam elements with a rectangular cross-section of 30 cm by 24 cm, which are fixed and supported at their lower ends. To keep the structural system simple, any reinforced concrete slabs that may be connected laterally and which provide additional stiffness to the structure are not taken into account.

Rigid body elements are used to model the connections between the columns and the wall panel, and at support point C, to represent the column and support widths (Fig. E1-1). The load-bearing behaviour in these areas is modelled either by node couplings or by finite beam elements between the connection nodes, which are assumed to be sufficiently rigid.
