This verification example deals with the design of a slender pendulum column made of centrifugally cast concrete in accordance with DIN EN 1992-1-1/NA, taking into account geometric non-linearities according to second-order theory and the effects of creep on concrete and steel. The aim is to investigate the influence of the two permissible methods for accounting for creep deformation – the creep-bending curve approach and the effective creep coefficient approach – on the load-bearing capacity of the column, whilst also comparing the effects of material safety factors.
